Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has officially inaugurated the ‘Apni Zameen, Apna Ghar’ initiative, aimed at providing free residential plots to homeless citizens throughout the province.

Building on a Successful Housing Model

The new ‘Apni Zameen, Apna Ghar’ program comes after the success of the ‘Apni Chhat, Apna Ghar’ initiative, which has already helped thousands of people build their own homes.

Applications Now Open via e-Portal

At the launch event, CM Maryam Nawaz pressed a button to activate the official e-portal, marking the beginning of the application process. Eligible citizens can now apply for free 3-marla plots by visiting azag.punjab.gov.pk.

Plots Distribution Across Multiple Districts

Maryam Nawaz announced that 2,000 plots will be distributed across 23 housing schemes in 19 districts. These districts include Jhelum, Pattoki, Mamun Kanjan, Lodhran, and Renala Khurd.

Helping the Underserved Access Housing

The Chief Minister shared that around 300 new houses are being built every day under this program. So far, 34,000 homes are under construction, and 2,000 have already been completed within just six months.

She emphasized that this project is a major step toward providing housing security to Punjab’s most vulnerable citizens.

Interest-Free Loans for Home Construction

Through the ‘Apni Zameen, Apna Ghar’ scheme, eligible individuals will receive interest-free loans to help them build their homes, making homeownership more achievable.

In the first phase, widows, orphans, differently-abled persons, and laborers will be given priority to ensure support reaches those who need it the most.

Who Can Apply and How

To ensure fairness, the Punjab government has set clear eligibility conditions:

  • Must be a permanent resident of Punjab
  • Must not own any property in Pakistan
  • Must be registered with the National Socio-Economic Registry (NSER)
  • Monthly household income must be under Rs 50,000

Applications can be submitted online through azag.punjab.gov.pk, or applicants can visit their local Deputy Commissioner’s office, where help desks are available.
